to participate in the

SPRING 2018 UCCI INSTITUTE FOR INTEGRATED MATH COURSES

Apply to Our Upcoming UCCI Institute for UCCI Math Courses by Sunday, Feb. 25!

UCCI is hosting what is likely our last statewide UCCI Institute ever, and we want you to join us! UCCI Institutes bring educators together to create innovative high school courses that integrate academic subjects with Career Technical Education (CTE). Courses created at UCCI Institutes are submitted for approval in the appropriate “a-g” subject area; once approved, UCCI courses are made available on the UCCI course catalog for any California high school to teach.

At this Institute, teachers will collaborate to create four unique courses:

  1. Arts, Media and Entertainment integrated with Integrated Math 1, to be approved in the Math  ("c") subject area for UC | This course will update our popular Da Vinci Algebra course to meet Common Core State Standards.
  2. Building and Construction Trades integrated with Integrated Math 1, to be approved in the Math ("c") subject area for UC | This course will be the first in a sequence modeled after two other UCCI math courses: Constructing Algebra 2 and Geometry by Design.
  3. Agriculture and Natural Resources integrated with Integrated Math 1, to be approved in the Math ("c") subject area for UC | This course will be the first in a sequence that includes one existing UCCI math courses: Ag + Math = Calculated Sustainable Agriculture: Integrated Math 3 in Agriculture.
  4. Agriculture and Natural Resources integrated with Integrated Math 2, to be approved in the Math ("c") subject area for UC | This course will be the second in a sequence that includes one existing UCCI math courses: Ag + Math = Calculated Sustainable Agriculture: Integrated Math 3 in Agriculture.

Benefits to participants

UCCI Institutes offer participants the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with other educators to create authentic integrated courses that extend students’ CTE-learning throughout all of their “a-g” coursework
  • Learn new approaches to teaching in their content area

PLUS: There is no cost to participate in a UCCI Institute. All UCCI Institute participants will receive a $300 stipend for their work associated with participating as a course developer at the Institute. In addition, lunch is included for each day of the three-day Institute, and UCCI offers reimbursement for travel costs associated with attending the Institute*. (*Some limitations may apply, per UC travel policies.)
