New UCCI Teacher Exchange

Upcoming UCCI Teacher Exchange!

July 31, 2017

Introducing the UCCI Teacher Exchange 2.0!

UCCI is excited to announce a new format for our Teacher Exchange Program! In addition to working with an experienced Teacher Exchange Leader to learn about and develop curriculum for a UCCI course, participants now have the opportunity to see the course curriculum in action. UCCI is adding a classroom observation component to the Exchange program, in which participants will be able to observe the Exchange Leader teaching a section or sections of the course(s) of focus at their school site. We think this addition to our program will provide participants with another opportunity to learn about and consider the ways in which teachers balance the CTE and academic learning in the classroom.

Our next UCCI Teacher Exchange will be held September 15 & 16, 2017 at Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, CA, and will focus on two UCCI courses: Geometry + Computer Visualization/Simulation and Algebra 2 for the 21st Century.

Both Geometry + Computer Visualization/Simulation and Algebra 2 for the 21st Century integrate Mathematics with the Software and Systems Development pathway of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) CTE sector, with each fulfilling one year of the three year Mathematics (“c”) subject requirement for freshman admission to UC/CSU.

At this Exchange, participants can expect to:

  • Observe sections of both courses to see the curriculum in action
  • Receive a complete set of materials for implementing the first unit of the course
  • Work directly with a UCCI Teacher Exchange Leader to test out projects in the course
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop course curriculum beyond the first unit

We encourage you and your colleagues to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn from and collaborate with other teachers, and work directly with UCCI staff.

Register Now!  Deadline to Register is September 8: http://bit.ly/SimiValley_Exchange

There is no cost for teacher participants to attend a UCCI Teacher Exchange, and a working lunch is provided on both days of the event. Reimbursement for travel costs is also available. For more information on how the Exchange works, please visit the UCCI Teacher Exchange page on our website.
